After being asked about Japanese RPGs on Microsoft's E3 stage, Xbox boss Phil Spencer replied today that the company hopes to support Japanese partners on stage at E3.

The question gets asked in some form or another every few days to Spencer, who actively communicates with fans over Twitter. This time, Spencer answered that the company is going to be similar to last year with regard to the E3 stage.

 

As of now, yes. Things can change but like last year I wanted to make sure we supported our Japanese publishers on our stage and this year we are working to do the same. It's important to us.

In reference to last year, Japanese games on the Microsoft stage included Code Vein  and Dragon Ball FighterZ from Bandai Namco, and Life is Strange: Before the Storm if you want to count it since Square Enix is the publisher. It seems Spencer is saying they'll have at least that this year, assuming nothing changes.

Microsoft's E3 2018 presentation will take place Sunday June 10 at 1:00 PM PT.

 

Our Take
The Xbox One has a Japanese games problem that the Xbox 360 mostly didn't have. While the PS3 did have a number of Japanese exclusives, for the most part publishers didn't see any wisdom in limiting themselves to one console. Spencer has been saying that they're trying to reverse this, so hopefully this year the Xbox One starts at least getting day and date ports.
