Last week, Disney fired director James Gunn from the Guardians of the Galaxy series, one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most successful franchises. Gunn was fired due to decade-old tweets in which he made shocking and taboo jokes, for which Gunn had apologized in the ten years since. The tweets had been publicly known and acknowledged by Gunn while he directed the previous two Guardians movies, but the recent pressure about them was brought about as a response to Gunn's pointed criticism of the president, and ultimately caused Disney to act.
The cast of the movies, which includes James Gunn's brother Sean Gunn as Kraglin, have put out a statement in support of the embattled director today. While several of the leading actors and actresses tweeted the statement out, they were all an identical picture of text.

Other cast members, like Dave Bautista who plays the literal-minded Drax, had been tweeting about Gunn's firing for the last week. Bautista pointed a finger at a conservative movement to push Gunn out and believed Disney capitulated in the face of unfair accusations.
It is worth noting that the statement in support of Gunn does not indicate that the cast will walk or exert any pressure of their own on Disney to bring Gunn back. It seems resigned to Gunn's firing being a permanent status for the Guardians of the Galaxy series.
The Guardians themselves will be in next year's Avengers movie scheduled to release in May.
