Back in summer of 2016, the jazz-meets-hip-hop quartet of BADBADNOTGOOD had just dropped their fourth studio album, IV. The album did quite well, reaching #1 on Billboard’s US Top Jazz Albums chart. It featured familiar artists like Kaytranada, Mick Jenkins, Future Islands frontman Sam Herring, and more.

Over time, since the release of IV, BADBADNOTGOOD have been intermittently dropping unreleased tracks that were recorded during their studio sessions while creating the album. Today marks the final release from these studio sessions, and it ends with a collaboration with Swedish electronic band Little Dragon. The brand new released track is called “Tried.”

BADBADNOTGOOD lays down a rich, stirring groove for Little Dragon vocalist Yukimi Nagano, and the two work together with such synergy that we’re surprised that we’re just now hearing this track. BADBADNOTGOOD’s buzzing instrumentation mixed with Yukimi Nagano’s velvety vocals is a fantastic combo that we hope we get to hear more of.
