After topping the charts with his album Hoodie SZN, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie turns back time in the video for his hit single “Look Back at It.”
The Bronx MC goes back to Highbridge High School, where he’s the popular jock. He embraces his youth as he clowns around in class and flirts with a cheerleader. The clip also co-stars Russell Horning, also known as Backpack Kid, whose parents don’t approve of his loud music and guitar playing, so he escapes through the television and joins Boogie in his fantasy world.
According to Boogie, the school setting symbolizes him being a student of the game and encompasses various aspects of life—from work to romance to partying. “I was inspired to shoot ‘Look Back at It’ in a high school because I’m like a voice of the youth,” said A Boogie. “When the youth sees me in a classroom I want them to be inspired to accomplish their dreams. I was just like them in a classroom at one point. It all starts in a classroom.”
“Look Back at It” appears on Boogie’s sophomore album, Hoodie SZN, which spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has been streamed over 500 million times.
