LATEST FASHION

As a fashion editor, I can’t help but be swayed but all of the latest trends and the newness on the market and I constantly have my eye on new pieces to add to my shopping cart. If I have to be honest though, I’m a serial wardrobe repeater and end up reaching for some of the same staples again and again. Part of it is because they’re items that I know I’ll always feel good in and already have outfit formulas I know I can rely on. The other part is because they’re just key items in my wardrobe that have stood the test of many wears and I simply can’t live without them.

My wardrobe would be lost without pieces like relaxed trousers and crisp button-down, as well as tailored trench coats and oversize blazers. They’re pieces I consider to be the backbone of my wardrobe and I can’t imagine getting dressed in the morning without them. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to repeat what you’re wearing. Quite the opposite, I believe in cultivating a wardrobe with items that you really wear and know how to style a thousand ways. Ahead, the fashion staples I rely on more than any others when I’m getting dressed.

Truth be told, I first ordered an oversize blazer a few years ago and almost added it to my donate pile because the proportions didn't seem right. Fast-forward to the present and I can't imagine not owning one. A staple to wear with everything from denim to hot pants (yes, hot pants), I highly recommend adding an oversized blazer to your closet if you don't already own one.

My obsession with relaxed trousers simply can't be tamed. I'll trace it back to last summer when loose-fitting pants started to bubble. Now, though, the wide-leg pants trend is getting bigger than ever and I'm only eyeing more pieces to add to my growing collection of tailored, yet roomy, trousers.

I grew up wearing collared button-down tops and it just so happens that they're having a moment, so I have even more reason to wear the tailored basic. Lately, I've been buying mine in a few sizes up for a more oversize fit.

If you know me, you know that I live in jeans. While my closet includes plenty of silhouettes across the board, classic straight-leg cuts are my go-to. They're such a versatile cut and pretty much go with anything.

When in doubt, I always go for a matching set. Pantsuits are my default because they instantly just look so tailored and polished and I've never felt anything but great when wearing one.

I bought my first trench coat in high school and still own it to this day—a testament to the staying power of the timeless piece. Whether you opt for a classic twill version or a vegan leather style, it's a no-brainer to top off your transitional looks.

Weirdly, some of my current wardrobe staples are items that scared me at first. That includes jumpsuits—a piece I never knew how to style, yet have ended up behind a core staple in my closet recently.

Next, seven things I always wear (and 7 I skip) after living in NYC, Paris, and L.A.
