Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are on the ropes.

In light of Captain America: Civil War and its own calamitous, deeply personal showdown, the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and even Hawkeye are all still licking their wounds – physical, if not emotional – so it’s no wonder Joe and Anthony Russo continue to warn viewers that Avengers: Infinity War opens at a time when our heroes are at their lowest. At their most vulnerable.

Cue Thanos. Of course, Marvel’s Mad Titan needs no introduction, as his all-consuming masterplan has been foreshadowed for years – 10 years, in fact – and thanks to today’s all-new promo, we now have a better understanding of how the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, in particular, react to such a colossal threat.

The latter team of spacefaring A-holes have found themselves in the company of Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder, who is said to be recovering from a nasty run-in with Thanos that occurred soon after the credits rolled on Thor: Ragnarok.

And so, the ragtag group set out on a mission to locate Thor’s new weapon, which helps explain why Avengers: Infinity War‘s runtime has been divided equally between Earth and space. On the ground level, our heroes will come together on two separate fronts: Wakanda and New York, where Marvel’s Science Bros fight to save the Big Apple from the oncoming threat of Thanos and, presumably, his nefarious Black Order.

One member of the lineup expected to travel across the pond is Bruce Banner, whose Incredible Hulk has been tipped to pilot the Mark XLIV suit (AKA the Hulkbuster) once the Battle of Wakanda gets underway.

Suffice it to say, Avengers: Infinity War is about to unfold across an epic, near-unprecedented scope, so we’re intrigued to find out whether Joe and Anthony Russo are able to maintain a compelling, well-thought-out story amid all the CG carnage.
