Looking ahead at all that 2020 has in store for us, there are so many glorious new trends to get excited about. We've already laid the groundwork for the S/S 20 runway trends that will have the biggest impact, but now it's time to shift our focus to what fashion people will actually be wearing to and from the shows, aka the street style. We always get giddy at the thought of seeing the street style looks from every fashion week since many of them end up setting the trends all on their own. In the meantime, we're placing bets on which new trends will dominate in the year ahead.

Will beige still reign supreme, or will another color trend eclipse it? Will we see fashion people carrying more micro or oversize bags? Ahead, we're making our predictions on the street style trends we expect to see the most of in 2020. Scroll down to see the seven trends we're highlighting and shop the versions of each that are already available. Only time will tell if we were right or not…

The "fashion suit" isn't exactly a brand-new trend, but believe me, it's about to be one of (if not the) most important silhouette of the coming season, and probably the year if we're being honest here. In 2020, expect to see creative new twists on the power silhouette, with updates like fresh colors and prints. There will also be short and skirt suits.

Leather was arguably the biggest street style trend from the most recent season and we see no signs of the trend slowing down. Instead, insiders will shift their focus to non-black leather pieces (anything from vibrant yellows to subdued browns is good) for a fresh take.
When it comes to the handbags of spring 2020, size does matter. We're predicting that oversized, larger-than-life totes and shoppers are about to flood the street style scene. There's already a cheeky Instagram account dubbed @thebigbagclub that's dedicated to documenting them, if that's any indication of a larger trend afoot.
Evidence of these oversized dresses is already all over the street style scene. We've been spotting fashion insiders swapping out their more fitted dresses for these billowy and voluminous numbers. As far as brands go, look to names like Cecilie Bahnsen and Merlette who have cornered the "fluffy" dress market.
Ahh, the return of platforms. I have to say I didn't see this one coming, but now that it's here, it's here. Shoes of all shapes and sizes—from chunky boots à la Simon Miller to Miu Miu's ankle-strap heels—the coolest shoes are all getting a literal lift.
Would it really be a roundup of street style trends if we didn't throw in at least one weird style? Enter culottes (or long Bermuda shorts if you'd like), which all the cool brands from Bottega Veneta to Zara are offering up in sleek leather. The "not quite pants but not quite shorts" length is tricky, so we went ahead and broke down exactly to wear them.
If animal print were a king in the sartorial game of chess, then we're calling checkmate (aka threatening the print trend's long-standing reign). Coming in to take its place is checkerboard print, which designers like Staud and Wandler are putting a mod, '60s-inspired spin on and the results feel completely fresh amidst a sea of leopard, snake, and zebra.

Next up, the six color trends fashion girls will cling to next year.
