LATEST FASHION

Last month, I ordered three Amazon basics on a whim, took photos in them, and wrote mini-reviews. I thought it was fun, so let's do it again! This time around, I gravitated toward cozy pieces, right in time for the first major cold snap of the year. (It was 23° last night where I live.) I again landed on three new basics from Amazon Fashion's in-house brands, and I have to say that I'm pretty happy with my choices.

Even with more places to go these days, the number one priority for most of us when it comes to clothing is that it's cozy. In my book, coziness means that both comfort and warmth are present and accounted for. Amazon's cozy fashion offerings are extensive, to say the least, but it wasn't hard for me to decide on a wrap puffer (yes, wrap), a fun ribbed knit top, and a bright turtleneck sweater. All were indeed cozy, and some looked cuter on than others. (I told you this would be unfiltered, didn't I?) So let's get to it.

Scroll to shop my cozy picks as well as a few more contenders that caught my eye.

My Review: The first thing that struck me when I unboxed this ribbed knit top was that it was surprisingly thick and warm. I was happy about this because I don't like fitted tops that are too thin and clingy. With its balloon sleeves and square neck, this definitely falls under the "trendy basics" category, which I'm never opposed to. I ordered a size small in the top, which is my usual size, and I was happy with the fit. If you want something more formfitting, definitely go down a size, but it was the perfect amount of tightness for me and tucked in nicely. (Please excuse the dramatic posing below. I just wanted to show off the fun sleeves.)

My Review: I love a good puffer, and in this, I found a fancy puffer. First of all, I was very impressed by how expensive the jacket looked, especially for $85. The material is smooth and matte, and it doesn't wrinkle at all. I haven't worn it out in the frigid air yet, but I could tell that it'll keep you warm, but maybe don't wear it on the coldest of cold days. The tie around the waist was definitely a nice touch, especially if you think that puffers aren't usually particularly flattering. (I experimented with tying it in the front and the back, but I preferred the front ultimately.) While I had wanted the black jacket, it was sold out in a size small when I placed my order, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the navy one, as I found that it looks better in person than it does on the site.

Also wearing: Aritzia turtleneck; Richer Poorer Recycled Fleece Sweatpants ($72); Everlane shoes

My Review: Of the three, this was probably my least favorite item, but I don't necessarily think it was the sweater's fault. I liked that it was thin yet warm, and the mock turtleneck is chic, but the longer length of it made it look weird pulled down since it's not oversize, and there was a little too much material to tuck it in. That said, I think that if I'd ordered the x-small as opposed to the small, it would've been more fitted, and I would've just tucked it in with everything. So if you want a good basic mock turtleneck sweater, just size down with this one and plan on tucking it in or wearing it with leggings.
